Heidi graduated with her bachelor’s degree in Social Work at Utah State University in 2007 (Yes, she is a true Aggie). She graduated with honors from the University of Utah with her Master of Social Work in 2008.

Heidi began working in the field at a domestic violence and rape crisis center. She then worked with adolescents who had experienced sexual trauma and/or had sexual touching problems at Life Matters Counseling Center. During college, Heidi developed a program for at-risk youth at Mountain Crest High School where the students developed skills necessary to help them prepare for college and also developed cultural awareness and self-acceptance. After completion of her college degrees, Heidi began working as a therapist at the Child and Family Empowerment Center. Heidi worked at Intermountain Healthcare for 6 years in the Emergency Department providing crisis intervention for patients and their families who were dealing with multiple crisis issues such as: suicidal thoughts/attempts, child abuse, sexual assault or domestic violence, and deaths (including miscarriages). While being employed with Intermountain Healthcare, Heidi worked in their outpatient clinic weekly as a therapist with clients who were dealing with depression, anxiety, self-esteem issues and trauma.

Heidi’s specialties include working with people who struggle with a lack of self-love and are dealing with an immense amount of shame and guilt. Heidi is trained in treating those who deal with suicidal thoughts and self-harming behaviors. Heidi is a certified rape counselor through the Utah Coalition Against Sexual Assault.

Heidi enjoys working with people ages 8+ dealing with abuse and trauma issues, addiction, codependency issues, depression, and anxiety. Heidi likes working with the entire family system, providing couples and family counseling. Adolescents and their parents are one of Heidi’s favorite populations to work with.

I enjoy running and can usually be found reading a book. I love spending time with my three amazing children. I also enjoy listening to music and singing in the shower or car. I also love to go to the theater to watch musicals and plays.

Philosophy

I believe every woman, man and child has infinite value and worth. Every one of us is worthy of love and belonging. Whether we have experienced feelings of worthlessness because of our own actions or because of the actions of others, learning to develop self-acceptance and self-love is the pathway toward true joy and meaning.

When we experience trauma, we develop false ideas about ourselves and the world that keep us in a place of fear, anger, and hopelessness. We make decisions based on those faulty core beliefs that cause ourselves and others great amounts of pain and despair.

My treatment philosophy is that when we learn to love and accept ourselves completely, we can find true healing and connections within ourselves and the world around us in a deeply powerful and abundant way. In order to develop this authentic lifestyle, we must make choices that are congruent with our true nature.
